I loved it - Cassidy - not just a random cross! For the first time in a long while, I like the flashbacks as much as the island plot.
Kate and Juliet make excellent foils. It was good to see Sayid alive again.
And.... where the heck did Locke and the Others go?
B plot was cute, not wonderful. Maybe Hurley should be the new leader?
I was never bored but I wasn't ever overly excited. It was terrific to get a lot of Smokey action though. And I enjoyed the scene with Locke a lot. And I like how Hurley duped Sawyer.
i gave it a 10 mainly because im just soo impressed with the roll of episodes we have gotten since break. it was a great episode. Just solid in all levels! Loved Hurley conning sawyer!
am i the only one that felt like this was a filler episode? i felt like smokey's flashes were just an attempt at making this more than filler, but i dunno. it just feels like a setup for the next episode, which looks like it will have lots of answers. i don't buy juliet's excuse that she "didn't want to be left behind again"by kate, why would juliet care about whether kate stays w/ her or not? looks like juliet is a plant...
also, looks like sawyer won't be leader for long. jack's already back next episode.
I gave it a 9. Much better than a Kate episode has any right to be. Her FBs werent absurd for once, and they filled out a couple of details from Born to Run and EMFH, so they werent pointless either. Bonus.
The Juliet and Kate interactions were great, and im glad it wasnt just a big catfight over Jack like the previews implied (he was more an extra source of tension, kind of like Kate in Jack/Sawyer conflicts). Plus im always happy for more Juliet in general. I had to rewatch her opening takedown of Kate 3 times before being able to move on.
B plot was a lot better than expected as well. I usually hate these Sawyer/Hurley comedy time killers but this one was actually pretty good.
pretty weak. seemed like a contrived story line to change up the WWF tactics they have going on (who is good, who is bad? hulk hogan? randy savage?). juliette with a key? poor. wasnt too into the flashback. wasnt too into the Sawyer "politicing" to "lead the society". first hurley is talking about consensus but then they need a leader/big man? that negates consensus and just kind of makes the story out of continuity. theyre fed by Dharma, no wonder why no one knows how to feed themselves.
just seemed like a weak setup episode overall, especially with jack returning and the end of the season being near.
am i the only one that felt like this was a filler episode?
No...i thought that, content-wise, this episode was filler...another 'bridge' episode like SIASL...however, this time around, the filler was well executed and entertaining to watch...hence I gave it an 8...nothing huge or earth shattering...but a nice character driven nugget that carried alot of plot and didn't get messy. I also agree with those who liked Kate's flashback a lot...though at this point I can't help but feel like her backstory is done, Locke's backstory is done...I can't begin to believe that
Spoiler:
Jack's won't be done if the spoilers about another jack-back this season is true
